Eat Your Way to a Healthier Planet.

Did you know it takes 900 gal. of water to produce one 8 oz. steak.

(That’s 21 bath tubs of water)

Did you know the food chain is responsible for 26% of carbon emissions?

Here is how you can help:

· Eat more plant-based meals & less meat & dairy.

Besides being expensive, beef has a heavy carbon footprint.  Most dairy comes from cows.  Animal products account for 50% of carbon emissions from food.

Why does beef have a big carbon footprint?

  • Livestock uses twice as much land as crops like grains and vegetables, which leads to deforestation and the loss of biodiversity to make room for farmland.

  • Livestock—mainly cattle—also produce methane c/o their stomachs, which are designed to digest coarse plants, but not without side effects. Methane is a greenhouse gas roughly 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide, meaning that beef’s carbon footprint is one of the biggest for farmed animals

In the U.S., food waste generates the equivalent of 37 million cars’ worth of greenhouse gas emissions annually.

Plant-based food can be delicious.

Here is a great plant-based Tex Mex Salad recipe.  It is a great hit at parties!
