Reduce Toxins

Did you know 30% of the ingredients in common products you use every day in your home are toxic?  This means they can cause cancer, be hormone-disrupting, neurotoxic, trigger asthma, or allergies and can even contribute to weight gain.

These toxic ingredients slowly accumulate in your body.

Have you had the Radon levels in your home tested?

Radon is a cancer-causing radioactive gas that kills more than 21,000 people a year.  You can’t see, smell or taste radon but it may be leaking into your home.  It is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.  The Surgeon General has warned that radon is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer in the United States today.  You need to protect you and your family.

Take Action:

  • Use non-toxic cleaning, personal care, cosmetics, health products, and baby, children and animal products

  • Have your home tested for radon and fix if necessary

  • Periodically do internal cleanses to reduce toxins stored in body

Exercise

If you could come up with a pill that would give you all the benefits of exercise, you would make a bazillion dollars!  Nothing replaces it.  We are designed to move and not sit all day.

Exercise boosts your immunity and makes you less susceptible to disease.  You live longer.  It helps maintain a healthy weight and improves body image. It improves your memory, mental focus and performance.  It promotes better sleep.  Wahoo, it improves your sex life! You have more energy to enjoy life!

Take Action:

Your goal is to do 150 minutes of aerobic activity every week. You could do this in 30 minutes, 5 days a week or slightly over 20 minutes every day. Add to this 2 days of strengthening. You will have the energy and strength to have fun and do what you want.  You can make it fun!

Start Simply.  You get points for putting on your athletic shoes.

If 150 minutes seems too much to start, just start adding more movement every day and increase when you can.

Nutrition

Fill in Nutritional Gaps & Feed Your Body Nutritious Foods

Your body is your one and only transportation vehicle for life.  What kind of fuel do you put in your magnificent machine?  You would never put cheap gas in a Ferrari.  You would only use high-test fuel.  Do the same for your body.  Go to your refrigerator and honestly list the foods you find there.  Keep a food diary for one week.

Are you filling your tank up on low-test junk food or high performance nutrient-dense foods?  Your body is worth having good nutrition.  You can’t trade your body in on a new model.  If you abuse your “machine” you won’t be able to use it for long.

Actions Steps:

  • Eat nutrient dense foods

  • Supplement to fill in nutritional gaps

  • Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day

Transform Stress

Does your stress manage you or do you manage your stress?  What is stress? Stress is the body’s reaction to the demands of life.   There are positive and negative stressors.  You need some stress to feel alive.  Stress is a physiological response to life’s events.  When there is too much negative stress, it can affect your health.

Can you feel happy and have personal satisfaction even when under a lot of stress?  Yes!!!  People who have good coping skills and resources feel more personal satisfaction at work and in their personal lives even when they are experiencing a lot of stress.

The key to being resilient and enjoying life more is to develop an arsenal of coping skills and resources.  This way you manage stress rather than having the stressors manage you.

Have Fun

Often we wake up, hit the floor running and the next thing we know it is bedtime.  We haven’t taken anytime to nurture ourselves, laugh or have some fun.  Recreation means re-create ourselves.  We need to stop rushing around and take time to enjoy life.  It revitalizes us!

Grab your calendar.  Right now, schedule in something you enjoy right now.  Then, do it!  Each day schedule something you can do for a few minutes that nurtures you. Maybe a soothing cup of tea in your favorite cup.  Relax, breathe and enjoy!

Give Back

We can become self-absorbed with our own problems.  Making a difference, in whatever ways we choose, contributes to our well-being.  Simple actions make a difference.

Did you know that every time you choose to use products without toxic ingredients in your home, you are not only improving your own health but the health of your family and the health of the planet!

My church is having a plastic initiative.  I signed a pledge to start to reduce the use of plastics in my home.  I have eliminated using plastic water bottles by using a stainless steel one.  I am working on reducing plastic use one by one.
